Wolfgang Weingart, born 1941, in Germany close to the Swiss border, is an internationally known graphic designer and typographer. He is credited as «the father» of New Wave or Swiss Punk typography. Even if there are strong evidence of the Swiss orderliness in Wolfgang Weingarts style he pursued a more experimental style of typography. Inconsistent letter spacing, different weights within the same word and type set to non-right angles.
In 2014 Wolfgang Weingart received the Swiss Grand Prix of Design award.
